The Waiting

With the heat wave and crazy humidity, pretty much the only place I can hang out is on the lakefront or by the harbors these days. Which should explain the abundance of by-the-water photos lately. At 39 weeks and two days, I’m going a little stir-crazy when stuck indoors!

But seriously: Baby Larkin, it’s time to vacate. Your eviction notice is pending!

I’m not sure how I hadn’t given much thought to what the last few weeks of pregnancy would be like, but I’m kind of glad I didn’t. I wouldn’t say that they’ve been unbearable; I have no real complaints with the exception of general discomfort. ;) I am, however, anxious. Knowing the most life-changing event of your life could occur at ANY GIVEN MOMENT is a weird feeling, and I’m constantly wondering (and worrying) whether “this is it.”

I’m also exhausted. I’m having trouble staying asleep at night–I suppose because of that general discomfort–and therefore am having trouble staying away during the day. Much like I assume Future Baby Larkin will mix up his or her days and nights, I’m kind of a mess. But maybe that’s a good thing?! Preparation for having an infant! :)

Truly, the waiting is so hard. We’re filling this weekend with some fun stuff, though, so hopefully that’ll get my mind off things. We’re attending the Sheffield Music Festival & Garden Walk in our neighborhood, finishing up the guest room (last few coats of paint!), and completing a few blog-related and freelance projects. (I have the best husband ever. Thank you SO much for helping, Mitch!)
