This year, our little family is spending Christmas break in five different locations: Lincoln Park, Chicago; Bucks County, Pennsylvania; New York, New York; Long Island, New York; and Lake Bloomington, Illinois. (Right now, we should be in NYC… or Yardley. Who knows. How fantastic is scheduled content?!)

We might have quite the crazy travel schedule, but believe it or not we actually cut a location this year! (Vermont. So sad, but we had a huge family sleepover party at my parents’ instead, and it was incredible. Amazing how much fun you can pack into a couple of days!) In years past, Mitch and I have opted to not decorate our home for the holidays since we were always on the go. This year, though, Mitch has nearly an entire month off for the holidays (I explain that here), and it’s Emma’s first Christmas. We had to decorate!

Over Thanksgiving, we had every intention of bringing back our Christmas decor, which has been sitting in my parents’ basement since our NYC/Hoboken days. But we forgot. (Too much to remember!) Thank goodness for Kohl’s, though. It’s right down the street from our little house, and it has SO MUCH holiday goodness for the home. While I was there, I also picked up some festive, realistic holiday outfits for a new mom. Forget the dresses; give me cozy sweaters, cute shoes and plaid scarves and wraps! All washable, of course.

So today, I’m sharing what we did with our home in Lincoln Park as well the Christmas outfits that I picked out from Kohl’s. As I mentioned here, I have some personal connections to Kohl’s: my sister-in-law used to work at the company’s corporate offices in Milwaukee, and my brother-in-law still works there as a buyer. (It’s the coolest job ever.) Oh, and Grammie is SUCH a big fan. So shopping there is definitely special. :)

For the home

Clothing picks

Anyway, above are some of my favorite holiday products for the home from Kohl’s. As for my favorite holiday clothing picks, I’ve spoken about this before, but I’m a huge fan of these Levi’s (basically designer jeans), and I’m in love with this festive red sweater as well as this all-season fair isle sweater. The poncho gives any sweater a new look, and can we get over these sparkly flats?! Super comfortable yet fancy enough for all my holiday events.

I think my favorite part of this whole post, though, is the wreaths hanging down from our windows. For some reason, I thought the project would be way too difficult to pull off, but my mother-in-law convinced me that it was, in fact, relatively easy. I loved the wreaths–and the ribbon–we picked out from Kohl’s, and my MIL was right: it so much easier than I thought! In case you’re wondering, all I did was unravel the entire spool of ribbon, cut it in half, and then loop the two ribbons through each wreath and tie knots at their ends. I then opened the top of our windows and then closed them with the knots outside the house. Again, such a cinch.

Finally, something I love about Kohl’s is that you can shop online and then pick up in-store. You even get a reserved parking spot for your pickup! (Here’s a list of items that are eligible for same-day pickup.) Also, from now until December 24th, you can take 15 percent off any Kohl’s order or 20 percent off your Kohl’s order of $100 or more with code “WREATH.” (Exclusions include Nike, Columbia, Levi, Under armor, Koolubura by UGG, prestige beauty, electronics, consumables, Kohl‘s Cares, American Girl and Elf on the Shelf.) All start/end dates are valid at 12 a.m. CST.

Oh, and one very last thing: I can’t get over the cuteness of Emma’s holiday look. Why don’t her leggings and cable-knit sweater come in adult sizes?! ;)
